Today i m sharing some tips tools and tricks to installing vinyl plank over concrete. Sheet vinyl can be installed over concrete if the surface of the concrete is clean smooth and dry. The process for installing the tiles is the same whether the tile is set on a floor or a wall. So technically if you are installing vinyl plank flooring onto concrete you already have a subfloor.

Make sure that the concrete surface is clean and will adhere to the tile. Ceramic and porcelain tile are so frequently installed at or above grade level on a cement board underlayment or directly on plywood that it almost seems novel to install tile directly on concrete. Concrete is very hard and laminate isn t much softer.

Using a glue down floor is an option in above grade installation only since installation below grade requires a plastic barrier on top of the concrete. This additional layer can improve insulation and should make your vinyl plank flooring warmer and less resonant. You can lower high spots with a grinder. Unlike stone vinyl tiles are lightweight and less complicated to maintain.

Take the vinyl tiles and place them in the center of the room where the lines bisect. Then use a level to find any spots where the ground is uneven and apply concrete self leveling compound to even it out. Step 4 install the tiles. You can install them removing the back paper to expose the sticky part of the tiles.

If you find moisture you will need to abandon the vinyl tile installation project. Wipe away or use a knife to peel away any adhesive that gets into the seams between planks. Clean the floor for glue down installation. To install vinyl plank flooring on concrete you ll first need to clean the concrete with soap and water and fill in any cracks with concrete filler.

Clean the cement thoroughly with a push broom and a wet vacuum. 500 750 square feet of coverage. You can keep installing the tiles working from the center towards the walls. Installing tile directly on concrete.

Let the concrete floor dry for 24 hours. Add padding for comfort. For the floor adhesive to properly stick the floor must be clean. However some people prefer to add another thin layer of subflooring between the concrete and vinyl.
