In a typical toilet installation the floor flange that sits inside the drain opening below the toilet should be positioned so that its bottom surface rests flush against the finished floor or no more than 1 4 inch above or below the floor this ensures that the flange makes a watertight seal against the wax ring that fits between the drain opening and drain outlet horn on the underside of. The installation process is the same for a tile floor a hardwood or carpeted bathroom floor. Then i leave a gap of 1 4 or so to the rest of the flooring that will be. When tiling a bathroom mark out your desired grid pattern on the floor and lay tile over the unobstructed areas first.

A small curve around the toilet base will be left untiled as the square tiles will not meet the shape of the flange. Am installing some allure vinyl floating floor in bathroom i am also installing a new toilet flange and toilet since i replaced the subfloor there. If the vanity is like a cabinet and will not have space between it and the floor you will install the vanity and then install flooring around it. So what i am thinking is i basically cut a round or square i guess now that i think about it piece to go under the flange.

A flange extender is easy to install it. If the flooring raises the toilet more than 1 2 inch off the flange install a flange extender or a conventional wax ring may not seal the toilet. Step 2 prepare the templates using the measuring tape measure the flange s diameter and add an additional inch to the entire measurement on the outside. As for the toilet you will want to get the flange to floor level.
